1. Penasehat akademik adalah dosen Penasehat Akademik bagi mahasiswa yang ditetapkan sejak diterima sebagai mahasiswa, dan selanjutnya disebut PA.
2. Sebagai PA, dosen bertugas dan bertanggung jawab untuk:
- Memberikan bimbingan akademik dan etika kepada mahasiswa, secara luas dan intensif.
- Memberikan bimbingan khusus kepada mahasiswa dalam menentukan rencana studi menyeluruh pada awal studi, mengisi KRS semester, dan mengesahkannya dengan membubuhkan tanda tangan.
- Memberikan penjelasan kepada mahasiswa tentang sistem pendidikan dan administrasi akademik universitas, fakultas, dan jurusan.
- Memberikan penjelasan dan nasehat kepada mahasiswa tentang cara-cara belajar yang baik, memanfaatkan waktu dan fasilitas belajar secara maksimal sehingga dapat menyelesaikan studi lebih awal atau tepat waktu.
- Menyediakan waktu yang cukup untuk berkonsultasi dengan mahasiswa paling kurang 3 kali dalam satu semester, yaitu pada awal semester, sebelum ujian tengah semester, dan sebelum ujian akhir semester.
- Mengevaluasi prestasi belajar mahasiswa yang diasuh dan melaporkannya secara teratur setiap akhir semester kepada ketua jurusan/program/bagian untuk diteruskan kepada dekan. Memberikan nasehat kepada mahasiswa yang prestasinya menurun, meneliti sebab-sebabnya, dan membantu mencarikan jalan keluar agar prestasi mahasiswa tersebut dapat meningkat pada semester berikutnya.
- Bila ada masalah dalam proses belajar yang tidak dapat diselesaikan oleh PA disarankan untuk diteruskan pada Ketua Jurusan/Prodi.
3. Dosen PA diangkat dan diberhentikan oleh dekan atas usul ketua program studi.
4. Dosen PA dapat diganti apabila dosen tersebut: (a) tugas belajar; (b) berhalangan tetap; (c) tidak melaksanakan tugas sebagaimana semestinya.
5. Penggantian PA sebagaimana dimaksud pada ayat (1) ditetapkan dengan surat keputusan dekan atas usul ketua program studi.
